Daily shooting – a single person and a crowd.

.

Two extremes, yet again – a single person, isolated in the frame, and crowded spaces, where you really feel you’re one of a 14 million people with and travel card (estimated).

The single person shots are quite common – someone intriguing, beautiful or ugly, you’ll find it all, just go on flickr. I have loads in my folio. After all,  people are the most interesting subject – at least to other people. Sometimes this isolation of a single person against your given background makes perfect sense, and the individual’s features, whatever they may be, shine and make the image. Sometimes the same isolation will feel a bit forced, and then the cliche shows it’s boring face.

Crowd scenes are not so popular. There must be a number of factors why that is (small distance, tight space, fast movement of everyone involved, shyness or fear on the account of the potential photographer etc), and I think you can say they are simply more difficult to pull off, both technically and artistically.

Of course there are also silent and focused crowd shots, like the hands one you see here. Hands are a common topic, I do realise, but that makes them a challenge, plus, I guess it’s my personal thing a bit as well.
