Presence – physical and suggested.

Similar situations depicted – night, or at least dark sky in the case of the first image, rain, a phone booth – the obvious difference being in the second image, there is someone actually using the phone, there is the fact of conversation, things are happening. The second image was shot on the 7th of Feb, while the top one is from today. I was satisfied with the older one when I uploaded it, seemed to be an emotionally charged shot, with nice composition, good light – maybe a bit over processed.

Having shot the new one, I actually like it better – the lack of someone in the booth leaves more for the viewer to add themselves, the potential seems to be more intriguing then the fact. The suggested presence requires involvement, while the physical one needs mental consumption.
Is the new photograph more imaginary, romantic even (hopefully in a good way)? Perhaps. Or maybe it’s just my direction is shifting, as I mentioned recently, into a quieter (literary in this case) space.
